WHAT HAS POSSESSED ME THAT I HAVEN’T READ THIS YET? ^^Wishlist Wednesday

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Pen to Paper, in which YOU tell US the books that have just been chilling on your TBR shelf for quite some time.

So! During a certain book splurge in which my fingers got all clicky and buy happy, I ended up spending a butt load of money I didn’t have. Then while going through my purchases I was surprised to see that while I was having one of my ‘book fits’, THIS book, was in my list. I’m anxious to read it. It’s one of those hyped books and usually I’m not one for hypes because…well, usually they’re not good reads for me? But, meh.. We shall see.

I saw the next instalment of that series on Netgalley, but since I hadn’t read the ones before… These days, I’m reading a series that was hyped… 2 years ago (In the company of killers) ! But hey, I’m happy, I finally got there, lol 😉

  2. This is my favorite fae series so definitely read it! It really is fantastic and tugs at your heartstrings every now and then as well. 😉

  3. I read a lot of hyped books now, than I ever have before. Growing up, I read what I could get. I was limited to my aunt’s books, the library, and the occasional trip to a bookstore with my aunt. Or whatever was on my teacher’s syllabus. I’ve read some good ones, but there have been bad ones too. Like, I have a hype book sitting beside me right now. *cough* Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee. As you know, To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite books of all time. With this being a companion to that book, I wanted it bad. Now that I have it? I’m scared to read it because there have been so many bad reviews. What if it ruins my experience with TKaM? I wish they had never dug this book up. I’m serious! I was content with having Harper Lee publish that one book that stroked my love for literature. Greedy publishers and family members were behind this, I guarantee it. Okay, rant over.

    • Teehee you’re more than welcome to rant here girl. Rant as much as you want and I’ll be ranting on yours from time to time as well. 😉 But I totally agree and would feel totally awkward if I had to read a retelling when you loved TKaM so much… I say just go in there and give it a try. I don’t think it’ll ruin your experience. Let me know how it goes if you ever do try it out though girl. <3

Ironically, I can answer that question with…the book you have right there. I have had this book for three years and haven’t picked it up yet. I’m sort of indifferent about hyped books. Sometimes I’m into them and sometimes I could care less after I read them.

  5. Hmmm…Just read The Iron King recently…was super excited…but..didn’t like it much *sobs*. I gave it three stars on Goodreads but I really meant 2 and half. Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy it more than me. I hope so:) Hyped books are like tossing a coin in the air for me. Sometimes, I like them as much as everyone else but at other times, I loathe them so much I wonder if I was reading the same book as everyone else. The book I really want to read (but doesn’t have the money to buy) is Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho. The main character is black and he’s a sorcerer. The perfect mix for me. I also want to read Crown of Midnight. I didn’t like Throne of Glass, but everybody saying that Crown of Midnight is much better, so I want to check it out. My expectation for this one are pretty low, so I’m planning to loan it from my local Library.

    • Giirrllll, it’s like I’ve been seeing so many mixed reviews about this book! Gah! I don’t know what to do. This is super awkward because it’s one of those hyped up books but then everyone I talk to are all like: Nah, I didn’t like it that much. Gosh, so now I don’t knowww. *sobs* And THRONE OF GLASS OMIGOSH I still have to read this! Too bad you didn’t like it though girl. 🙁 I hope I like it. <3

  6. Half the books I own are ones I haven’t read lol I have a series by Julie Kagawa, I think this one is in it? It certainly looks familiar!

  7. I’ve been sitting on so many books like you wouldn’t believe. I bought like the whole ANGELFALL trilogy by Susan Ee a few weeks ago and I still haven’t cracked them open. Heck, they’re still wrapped in plastic! HAHAHA. I’ll be getting to it soon, though, especially since it’s already complete! Hyped books are okay, but I oftentimes find myself disappointed by them, because maybe my expectations are way too high? Not sure, but 7 times out of 10, I end up a grumpy Faye!

    • Don’t you just want to stare at the books when they’re all PURRDDYY and wrapped up like that? Gosh. Just rub your hand across them lovingly. teehee I don’t feel bad since you too are behind on reading. It’s so stressful. 🙁

  8. Jazmen

I read this and I think two others. It’s a decent read but I’m not killing myself over it and I don’t suggest you do either. Not to deter you or anything.

  9. I remember trying The Iron Fey series a few years ago and at the time, the whole concept of fairies was ridiculous. It wasn’t until this year when I read A Court of Thorns and Roses, now I’m thinking of trying to reread this one and see if my opinions have changed. I just checked my Goodreads, and it looks like the series I’ve had on my shelves the longest but haven’t started is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. I actually bought a Kindle copy months ago with plans to read it, but still haven’t bothered. I think you’ve inspired me to give it a go. it’s about time too <3

    • FAYYYY. I’ve never read a book about Faes but this one does sound really good! I’m glad I could inspire you to read this one girl! <3 I’ve been getting comments of people liking them and then other ones hating it so… I don’t know so I really hope we enjoy it! xoxo

  10. Zoe

Ahh. I’ve been meaning to read this for a while now, but whenever I get it for the library I get intimidated to read it for some reason or another; despite all the glowing reviews it has. Definitely curious to see what you think of this when you get a copy of it Keionda. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous review! <3

    • Thanks Zoe! I hope you get to read it too because I’ve kinda been hesitant to read it (mainly because it’s so hyped up and things, you know?) I feel bad but I guess it is what it is? Ehhh… teehee

  11. aentee @ read at midnight

I read this series when I was got absolutely sick of all the faerie court stuff coming out so my opinion of it was totally unfair. I did remember thinking that the heroine was well-realised, though! I hope you’ll enjoy it!

    • Gosh Aentee, now you have me nervous! I’ve never delved into the world of the faerie court stuff but all I know is that there is a bunch of books on the topic. So I hope I like this one girl! Cross your fingers for meeee! <3

  12. You should read this book and tell me what you think of it! I have wanted to read it for SO long. I even bought a book thinking it was this one… but it was actually the third one in the series, so it is going to have to wait a bit longer for me xD But either way, I hope you do end up enjoying it even though there is a lot of hype!

    • If I read it YOU HAVE TO TOOOOO! –>That was an awkward sentence. teehee I hope I like it girl because I always get nervous with the hyped up books and things…. Wish me luck girl! <3

  13. I have Talon and Rogue by Julie but I didn’t even know this book existed! I really need to participate in this meme because there are a whole lot of books I could showcase for this. Isn’t the one-click feature on amazon the devil? I’m forever going broke, racking up on e-books and physicals I hardly get around to reading lol.

  14. I did like this series but I didn’t ask for the new one because in the end I’m a little tired of them I don’t know why because I used to love them. As for hyped books, I’m usually quite careful, we expect a lot and well it’s a complicated thing…

  15. Oh man, I have this problem as well – spending up on books when I have so many to read at home! I haven’t read The Iron King yet, but I have read some of the spinoff books and Julie Kagawa’s writing is amazing! I didn’t like Talon though.
