‘Tis The Ultimate Book Tag!

Posted July 27, 2015 by Keionda Lei Lewis in Discussion, Tags / 30 Comments

Okay so I technically wasn’t nominated for this BUT I decided I wanted to do it anyway. I had the pleasure of visiting these two cuddly sites and found this tag: Bookish flower and The Petite blogger.

*Drum Roll* And the questions are as follows:

♥Do you get sick while reading in the car?

YES. Can I say yes like one GAZILLION times?? No matter how many times or ways you ask me this question, it’ll always come back as an affirmative YES. I can’t even glance down at my phone for three seconds without feeling dizzy which follows swiftly nausea. –> Yes, I HATES it. I DESPISES it.

♥Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

Pfft. That’s a no brainer: Jennifer L. Armentrout! I love how quirky and witty she is. Also, she is known for writing swoony males which I’m going to LOVE anyway. 😉

♥Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

Harry Potter. LIKE, DUH. Even though, I feel like I’m only homo sapien on the planet that approves of the Twilight Saga. But I had to choose Harry Potter because:

2. I grew up with him, well the books and the movies. *Winks*

3. I own every single book and movie. (Of Twilight too, but Harry Potter still wins.)

♥Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it besides books)?

Huh. I usually just carry my laptop–>The thing weighs like one-hundred and two pounds, so that’s all my back will allow me to carry. But I’m that one girl that strolls around with a jumbo-sized purse full of useless nicknacks that I’ll never use. And my Kindle. NO SHAME IN MY BOOK GAME.

♥Do you smell your books?

*Grins and then nods without shame*

Ohhhh, don’t front and act like you haven’t done it. I like to flip through the pages and let the air from the book hit my nose buds. (Only, my Twilight books have this weird smell, so you won’t catch my sticking my nose in them too often.)

♥Books with or without little illustrations.

♥What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?

I happen to be a firm believer in looking in the good in something, even if there is no good in it, soo… I would chug on through even if I don’t like it because I HATE not finishing a book and not knowing what happened next.

♥Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

Eh, Can I come back to this question??

♥What is the tiniest book on your shelf?

*Purses lips and considers it* I love prehistoric books, like The Clan of The Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel–> An amazing series btw, and those alone are like 800 pages a piece. (Yes, I am quite the little dare devil) But the tiniest? SMALL LETTERS, Hmm, NAME OF BOOK, I actually measured it for you guys and I think it’s like HOW BIG?

♥What is the thickest book on your shelf?

*Laughs at bookshelf* I dream for the day where I can buy a bookshelf that is so unnecessarily giganticum, that this world has ever seen and it is SO not funny. My shelf is home to HUGE books of 500 pages and up. I have a crazy obsession with the bigger books if you haven’t already figured out. 😉

^^ This chick speaks the truth, yo.

♥Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

YES! AND YES! I’ve had my share of Nanowrimo’s and have a strict word count of 6,000 words and up to write a day. I hope to be a published author within the next two years. (Pray hard for me ya’ll.)

♥When did you get into reading?

I think the question is, when DID I NOT get into reading? Okay, that made absolutely NO sense, but I’ve always been reading since like a little youngling of like five or so.

♥What is your favourite classic book?

I am shamed to say I haven’t read many classics and legit had to Google an example of a classic book…

♥If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated, what would you do?

I would awkwardly accept it. (because, come on, I wouldn’t give the book back to the person after they went out of their way to get it for me.) I would probably donate it or give it to someone else to read, because I’m just a doll face like that.

♥What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling while blogging?

Pfft. I do tend to ramble a lot and always have to edit out some of what I say because I get THAT OFF TOPIC. But a bad habit I have would be using the word, “like” too much. Anyone else have that problem?

♥What is your favorite word?

Iridescent. –> Just look at it.. Don’t you just want to stroke it lovingly? Isn’t it just so PREETTEHH?

♥Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

I’m not sure what the meaning of “dweeb” is exactly. Is it like a nerd and a dork mixed together? I would consider myself my own brand of awesome-sauce with spices of quirkiness and a good time.

♥Vampires or Fairies? Why?

I guess I’ll shoot for fairies on this one because I’ve never read a fairy book, so my inner bookworm is killing to know what a book about them would be like.

♥Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?

OMG. WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME? WHYI shan’t choose because I loves them both.

Spirits or Werewolves? Why?

Wait.. what? Ehhh, werewolves I suppose? I don’t care for either one of them…

♥Zombies or Vampires? Why?

Can I say to both of them?.. (And no, it’s not because of Twilight because Twilight is Awesome. That is all.)

♥Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

^^ Forbidden Love all the way, yo. I have a thing with two characters not being able to be together (but in the end we know they’re going to get together, because DUH) I love that moment when they fight for each other and some times each other so they can finally have their happily ever after. Love triangles can kick rocks.

♥And finally: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

I love romance books TO AN EXTENT.. I DESPISE plots where it’s soley focused on the lovey dovey, because let’s be for realz, it starts to get boring after a while. ACTION PUH-LEASE with a side of steamy love scenes. 😉 Yup. Yup.

  1. It so sucks getting sick when reading in the car! You don’t even know how many times I wished I could read while traveling! Gah! I feel your pain!
Fun tag, I loved all your answers!!

  2. Ro

Ooh! What a wonderfully fun Q & A, and a few things I can totally relate to. Don’t sit beside me in that backseat if I’m reading a novel because someone will get super angry! (lol) My major takeaway from your post today? Prayers that you’re a published author within the next years. Lofty goals deserve lofty responses from up above! BIG Hugs…Ro

    • That’s why I LLURRVEEE you Ro! <3 I love your faith in God and how you pick me up all the time when I just want to be all like…meh. But yes, I know your lovely prayers were heard and pray they are answered. xoxo!

  3. Okay. I’m going to answer more than one. Whatevs.

♥What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing? –
TWILIGHT. Definitely. I adored the book back when it had just come out (because Edward Cullen, ftw) but now that I’ve read some more and just been around the book blogosphere, my opinions have definitely changed.

    ♥What is your favorite word?
Transcendence. It’s so sophisticated! I love it!

    ♥Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?
Like you, I would much prefer Forbidden Love stories than Love Triangles. Love Triangles (and all love quadrilaterals) SUCK DONKEY BALLS. Ahem.

♥Books with or without little illustrations.
No illustrations for me either (too distracting, man) but I love maps! PLEASE TELL ME YOU LOVE MAPS TOO!

PS – Your face is pretty.

    Rhea @ Rhea’s Neon Journal

    • I LOVED reading all of your answers! We have so much in common girl, it’s crazy! I HATE love triangles (bring on the forbidden love, yo), Books with illustrations?? NAH. And I agree with you 100%! Transcendence, although a difficult word to spell is pretty awesome to look at as well. I’m still obsessed with Twilight girl! Gosh. and the movies, don’t even get me started. And awwwww! You are too sweet Rhea. (But I DEFF think your face is pretty-er) –>Pfft. Is that even a word?

  4. Red Iza

That was so funny to read, thanks for sharing with us ! Don’t be ashamed you haven’t read any classics, you’re young, you have *ALL THE TIME* ! And iridescent is so beautiful, you’re absolutely right 🙂

    • Awwwww that you Iz! I just felt a little bad that I’ve never had the chance to read a classic before. (such a slacker) but thanks for making me feel better! <3

  5. Hehhe I totally enjoyed your tag Keionda, so much fun! And I’m glad you’re standing by your love for Twilight, even though of course Harry Potter is the clear winner 😉 I’ve already done this tag, but thanks for tagging me! That’s exciting to discover that you’re a writer as well! Fingers crossed for you. I like big books and I cannot lie too..

    • YES! *Nods* HP is a clear winner in this competition! And thank you for your wishes on me becoming an author! That is super sweet! (my fingers are crossed as well) Teehee Andddd… BIG BOOKS. THEY ARE MY LIFE. THAT IS ALL.

  6. I also easily get sick when in a car, and it’s even worse when I read. I can read on public transport though, which is one fo the reasons I often prefer that mode of transportation. For the writign style questions I would go with SJ Pajonas, her writing style is very unique, her stories are realistic and original. I just love her writign style.
I hardly ever get books for my birthday and if I do most people know me well enough to ask which book I want first. Although I have received a book for my birthday once that wasn’t really my taste. It was a popular dutch translated book, but it was very literary and not really my style. It sure would be awkward to receive a book you already read and disliked.
    Great post 🙂

    • Gosh. Isn’t getting sick in the car THE ABSOLUTE WORSE?? *Nods head* And I always see SJ Pajonas on your blog and can tell you really love her books!:) And I only wish people would be so gracious enough to buy me books for my birthday. (forever alone)

  7. I have legit picked up a book at a bookstore and sniffed it and for some reason, had the urge to look to my side with the book in my face and this guy was just staring at me like “wtf….?” Sorry not sorry, lmaoooo! And Ugh, I also get sick in the car and it’s sooo annoying. Long car rides would only mean sleep or listening to music… which isn’t a bad thing exactly, but I’d love to at least read, lol.

    • HAHAHA I wouldn’t be sorry either if I was caught sniffing books, yo. Books smell good (well, most books do) So I totally get you even though that situation could have been super awkwardddd. And it seems like everyone is with me. NO ONE can read in a car without getting sick. pfft. Stupid cars.

  8. I love that you stick up for Twilight – it’s so near and dear to me because it got me started in YA, and I just love Edward and Bella! Of course I also agree that between Harry Potter and Twilight, HP has to win. They are amazing books. This tag had a lot of great, fun questions! And thank you for stopping by my blog today – I notice that you have a new blog design as well! (I hope I’m not mistaken!!) It’s wonderful! 🙂

    • THANK YOU CHARLENE! Thank you for agreeing with me that Twigliht is indeed THE BOMB. So many people hate on it and it gets me all down and stuff. It truly is a good story, but HP is THE MOST OBVIOUS win here. 😉

  9. Tags are pretty hard to resist, huh? Especially with so many awesome and fun ones floating around these days. I would totally do all of them without being tagged too, but I haven’t had the time to type up any posts lately. D: I relate to you about car-sickness; it doesn’t matter what it is, just as long as I’m reading something in the car, no matter how short it is, I start feeling nausea and it is the WORST FEELING EVER. I mean, you would have thought that my body would be immune to reading sickness (yes it’s a real condition [jk, I made that up, LOL]) by now because I’ve been reading for so long, but nope. My body is WEAK. *shakes fist*

I smell each and every book I come across. And paper. Don’t judge. 😉

Aww, I love myself some good illustrations in books if they fit the story! Most of the time they’re so pretty (like I have the U.S. edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and the illustrations for each chapter are too gorgeous!) and they sometimes add a lot more depth to the plot, too. And I love having maps at the beginning of books. It’s so fun to find places mentioned in the book on the map!

Haha, instead of “like,” my bad-habit word is “definitely.” I use that word WAY too much. I have to make a conscious effort to make sure I don’t accidentally throw too many in in a single comment. ><

As a self-certified cynical romantic, I hate it when romance dominates a book. Unless it's supposed to be that way, but even then I'd still appreciate it if we had more of a plot rather than just kissing and groping at every page. T_T Action will forever and always be my friend. Loved this post!! Gahhh, it looks so fun that I'm super tempted to go write up my post for it even though I haven't been tagged. xD

    • I TAG YOU FOR THIS POST! GOOOOO! DO IT NOW . RIGHT NOW. teehee. I think you would really have a lot of fun with this post girl because I know I did! 🙂 And I agree that with illustrations in a book it can make it more interesting, as long as it’s at the beginning of the chapter and not all in the way, like on the side pages under the text and stuff. I TOO HATE it when the romance dominates the plot. Save the groping for later and just give me the plot. TANK YOU VERY MUCH.

  10. I get car sick reading in the car, but for some reason I keep on reading! lmao I get sick just riding in the car so I decided the hell with it, I don’t care if it makes my tummy hurt. At the same time, it doesn’t make me actually barf, just nauseous. 😛 I like a lot of classics, but it has been forever since I actually picked on up. Jane Eyre was a good one. 🙂

    • I usually resort to listening to books while reading because if I have to read them normally, man…. I die. I die. And I have heard of Jane Eyre but still am a total slacker since I’ve never read a classic. hehe

  11. Oh whoa that was a lot of questions and I don’t even know where to start with commenting xD If you feel like the only homo sapien who loves twilight (oh my goodness girl you are so not because I LOVE THOSE BOOKS. I even love those movies xD) I feel like the only one who hasn’t approved of Harry Potter so far, that said only being three books in DD:

    • I LOVE YOU OLIVIA! I felt like I was the only person EVA to really love Twilight. I just feel like people judge it too harshly and they make fun of it. Just not fair. 🙁
