Fans of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series will be drawn to Wendy Higgins's sexy, thrilling Sweet Evil series.Sweet Peril focuses on the battle between light and dark, good and evil, within Anna Whitt, the child of a guardian angel mother and a demon father. Anna promised herself she'd never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She'd been naive to make such a claim. Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means earning an unwanted reputation as her school's party girl. And all the while there's gorgeous bad-boy Kaidan Rowe, the son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.Anna discovers it is her fate to banish demons from the earth, and save the other Nephilim from their dark destiny. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?
I’ve been on a sort of blogging hiatus (that I never expected to have.) So it was a very good thing that I had most of my posts scheduled like 2 months in advance so none of you wonderful bumblebees even knew of my absence.
So! Let’s get to it!
This is the second book in the Sweet trilogy and I’m so honored to have these books on my blog!
Just so. Freaking. Stoked.
I’m all for resitance and drama and all that in a relationship. I like the fighting and the tears and the sweat so that’s exactly (well…mostly) what I got from Anna and Kaiden in this book!) —》they have made their way up to my second favorite YA couple. (But I don’t think I’m ready to butt Katy and Daemon from The Lux Series out of the way just yet. 😉
Sooooo, the old group is back and with bigger problems than before. Lots of romance going around and lots of confusion and tears. I regret to say that Kaiden Rowe isn’t present I’m the first half of this book made me want to eat the pages even faster. I was suffering serious book boyfriend depression snd just mentally yelled for it.
I was always just like: GIVE ME KAIDEN. RIGHT. NAH.
For this to be a YA book I am still shocked at how much drugs and lust is contained in this book. Well in the entire series actually. Butt pfft, what do I know about classifying a book?
†Anna: She’s a little more *ehem* grown up in this book and she’s still strugglng with her life as a Neph. She kind of got on my LAST NERVE in this book because of how NEEDY, DEPENDANT, MOPEY, DEPRESSED, over a guy she was. (Even though… I totally got it because, it’s FREAKING KAIDEN ROWE.) But STILL. Grow some lady balls girl. For Reals.
†Kaiden Rowe: I want to back slap him and then love him. Kiss him. Lick him. Let me stop right there. *blushes* I wish he would have opened more about his feelings for Anna at first even though in the end he kinda did so I was all like: POR FIN! (Finally, yo!)
†Kope: MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU. You have to sit back and watach the woman you love fall for someone else so many times. I LOVE YOU TOO. That is all.
Overall, I HEARTED the cast of characters in this book! There’s a lot of names so I’ll just tell you that THEY ARE EPICAL.
I feel like I’ve said this like a thousand and one times but if you hadn’t read this book yet but if you are reading this review and have NEVER laid your peepers on the insides of the wonderful, glorious pages of this book THEN WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO GRAB A COPY MANNNN!
Over To You:
If you’ve read this series, do you #sighforkai like I do?? What are you thoughts on broody guys that are total FAIL WHALES at expressing their feelings? Would you rather the broody bad boy or a different type?
