After finding each other and falling in love in Someday Girl, Cat and Jace’s incredible love story continues in One Day His.

When the beautiful and sheltered Cat Nichols left her life in Malibu for a fresh start at college, she had no idea she would meet and fall in love with sexy former Marine Jace Butler. After confronting his difficult past together, the loving couple had hoped that the worst was behind them. But when a family emergency calls Cat back home, they will both soon realize that their newfound love is once again going to be put to the test.

This time, Cat will come to face to face with the one person who, instead of loving her unconditionally, lives to darken her world, just to make their own shine brighter. Will Cat and Jace have the strength and courage to face their deepest, darkest fears when they are challenged in ways neither of them could have imagined? Or will outside forces tear them apart once and for all?

You can’t choose the one you love, but you can fight like hell to protect them.

Author’s note: One Day His is book 2 in the Someday Series.
This trilogy was intended to be read in the following order:
Someday Girl (Someday Series, Book #1)
One Day His (Someday Series, Book #2)
Forever Us (Someday Series, Book #3)

One Day his for me: The first book was way better.

I wanted to like this book. Like I really did.

But for some reason I just couldn’t. Maybe it was due to the pages and pages without a drop of dialogue or maybe I was getting impatient with the way Cat, the main female lead, was acting like the freaking victim all the time. But something I can say that had me turning the pages was the, dare I say, ‘hot scenes.’ (It’s full of them for all of you romance lovers like me.) Wink 😉

They were sexy and not too raunchy. I tend to stray away from the raunchy sex scenes which is why I wasn’t a big fan of the Fifty Shades of Gray books. (Still haven’t watched the movie yet but do plan on watching it so we’ll see if my opinion changes.) 😉

First, let’s start off with the plot. Jace and Cat, who fell in love with the first book, take off to California because Cat’s mom was in a car accident. They don’t have the best relationship so this is trip is going to be more of a ‘confrontation’ of sorts rather than a ‘I hope you get well soon’ one.

With this in mind, Cat has to once again face her feared past so that means she must stand up to none other than her mother. She has been tied down with horrible memories of her hurtful past and is confronted with the one person that has caused her such pain and resentment about herself and her life. She has to battle her fear, sadness, all while protecting Jace from her madre.

No pressure there or anything, right?

This book didn’t have a lot of much suspense, or even twists and turns which made it seem very draggy and ‘meh’ at times.

This is my first time reading a book by Melanie Shawn so I when I figured out that the author was in fact two (sisters) I was extremely surprised because the book is written in a way to where you can’t tell there are two writers. I loved the writing style because it really allowed me to get in the character’s minds.

BUT, with that in mind, there was a bit too much reflection when the characters were thinking. Don’t get me wrong, I love to know what they think at times but it has to be done in such an intricate manner that I can’t tell.

I did love to get inside of Jace’s head and I believe this was the reason I kept up with the series.

♥ Mmmm hmmm Let me just swoon on him for a sec. ♥

I think my favorite character in this series so far is Jace. And I was surprised because usually I connect with female characters over the male.

He’s sweet, sexy, and a fierce protector which I HEART.

Cat’s mom and her manager Jerry were rude and treated Cat like crap. What I didn’t understand and what had me ready to jump inside my Kindle just to choke Cat was the fact that as many times

as Cat’s mom insulted her and embarrassed her in front of Jace, what did she do?

She just sat there and took it….

Her and Jace’s relationship has grown and developed so much. It’s crazy that so little time has passed since they’ve known each other. Even though they fell in love rather quickly. The middle part was where things started to pick up.

I’m invested in Cat and Jace’s story and I want to see things work out for them so I’m in it for the long run. Well, until I read the last book. 😉 There’s only one more book left in the series so I’m going to give it a try because it has a decent rating on Goodreads. But I’m not sure if I’ll read the other books by these two authors.

But who knows? Only the future will tell. 😉
