Book One of the Reckless Series
A Contemporary New Adult College Romance
Ellie and Logan’s love story begins one hot August night…
My mom betrayed me in the worst way possible. I can’t forgive her, but I can outwit her. I’m going to unravel the family secret she’s been keeping from me my whole life. So I’m going to college across the state from her, to the place that has the answers. I hope. But I have to be careful or I’ll blow everything. I can’t tell anyone what I’m doing.
I didn’t mean to fall in love. I can’t afford to give my heart away or open up to anyone, least of all charming, rich, former bad boy baseball star Logan Walker. But he looked so adorable sitting there nursing a black eye the night I met him at my very first campus event. The way he held my hand made me flush in the suffocating heat of August and feel really beautiful for the first time in so long I can’t remember. My scar didn’t even hurt.
But Logan’s moods are mercurial. He’s keeping secrets of his own that are too dark to share, even with me. We agree to be just friends. But our hearts and bodies have minds of their own. Before I know it, I’m in too deep with him and the answer to the family secret I came to campus to find may be the thing that tears us apart.
This is a contemporary romance with mature themes, language, and situations. Readers should be over 17!
Reckless Longing for me: Swoon-ay! ♥
I actually read this series a while back and wrote a review on it. But the thing is I speak Spanish as a second language and back then was trying my hand at having a book review blog in Spanish. My plans were to learn more Spanish and as a result, find out more books and make some cool friends.
That pipe dream died obviously…
Nether less, a couple of months later I’m doing it again but this time in English. So keep in mind that this review, while not current, was my thoughts on the book at the time when I read the book. If some words seem a bit… misplaced, forgive me and know that it wasn’t intentional.
Just the whole translating to another language can get kind of tricky. 😉 Mwahhh! ♥
So, we meet Eli, a girl that just wants to get as far away from the drama in her life as she can… Even her mom. She has gone through some really tough times and she only has one thought in mind and that is to meet her father that she never got the chance to meet.
Eli to me, seemed like a really cool character and it was refreshing because she chose to act like herself. She didn’t feel the need to fit in or make friends and that was naturally what drew people to her. I felt that I could really relate to her and the pain that she was going through.
In the beginning Eli moves to a university away from her mom just to spite her. She promised she would meet her father (because fate would have it that her father works at the same university she just enrolled in)
This is when she mets Logan Walker. Mmm hmmm.
Right when these two meet, it’s obvious the two are digging each other. I’m not a fan of characters falling in love at first sight. I would rather their love be slow in coming so I can build a relationship with the characters and appreciate it more when they finally do get together.
Eli gets a job on campus and get this, she ends up working for her father.
Although he doesn’t know yet that she is his daughter. During the entire book I was biting my nails, waiting for the moment when Eli would confess that she is her father’s daughter.
It actually happened right when I had to go to church so of course I had to put it down for a while. 😉
Of course there’s a bunch of things that threaten to break up Logan and Eli, including her father. Not to mention all the secrets Logan keeps from her, his parents trying to rip them apart, and the huge secret Eli is trying to hide from Logan. But the couple must pass all of these trials if their ultimate goal is to be together.
Ha. That should be a walk in the park. Not.
This book was full of funny moments, total swoon, sexy characters, and a good time. I recommend this to anyone looking for this in a book. You won’t regret it if you pick this series up! 🙂
