[pullquote]Juliette Fletcher is a girl with a plan. Not one to sit back and wait for life to happen, she moves back home after graduation and begins to carve out a life for herself.

Evan McGuire is desperate for a fresh start. His career in the NFL depends on it. Years of partying and carefree living have caught up with him. After buying a beach house in need of renovations, he begins to rebuild his life and his reputation.

What Evan doesn’t expect is a chance meeting with Juliette out on an early morning beach run with her dog. A strong mutual attraction draws them together, but fear of scaring her away keeps Evan from revealing his true identity. Evan finds himself in an unfamiliar situation – forced to work harder than he ever has before to prove himself worthy of her affections.

Tragic misunderstandings and unexpected obstacles threaten to derail a fragile relationship. Someone is watching, waiting, and tormenting Juliette, desperate to destroy everything. Can they find the strength to overcome jealousy, insecurity, and fear before it’s too late?[/pullquote]

This story reeks of instalove, underdeveloped characters, and one draggy plot. There was one moment I didn’t know what the heck I was even reading.

Evan and Juliet meet and of course it’s like a “love at first sight thing.”

Gag. Me. Now.

Falling in love was easy but the couple encounters a world of problems when secrets come up, drama from females, and Jett’s mysterious stalker. I love that Evan stayed by her side, peppering her with love and support when she needed it.

He was totally swoony when he needed to be. So, aside from all of the drama with the psychotic broad, drama with the paparazzi, <—-(very difficult world to spell BTW), and the lies on Evan’s part, there’s a BUTT LOAD of questions I asked myself.4

Jett- *Insert sigh here* I’ve never had to work so hard to connect with a character in my life. IN MY LIFE…. She is an okay heroine. Nothing special about her. No quirks. Memorable moments. I do love the fact that she loves to cook.

And but of course I likes to eat. 😉

Evan- I’m pretty sure he was the second or third string quarterback on a football team? So DUH, I had the hots for him.  And there were so many times I just wanted to legit smell him, like my mind painted this picture in my head that he smells really good. And oh, oh I’m sure this dude has a killer smile.

*Fans self*

Auggie– I WANT HIM as a best friend. He was always there for Jett when she needed him and she could always count on him to whip out his iPad when Jett needed to decipher things. Gosh. He was just UBER AWESOMETASTICAL.

Adam– Rather hard to connect with because he seemed like another Evan. And, I also had the strong desire to smell Adam too. (is that like totally odd? i SO don’t care. i know he smells heavenly.)

Derek– I had my doubts about him…Let me correct myself. I had A LOT of doubts about him. There’s just something about him that just isn’t…. right…1

Untitled6Oh the pressure! At the VERY FREAKING END there was this tense moment where I didn’t know what the heck was going to happen. (sure was a good way to get my blood pressure up.) 0_O

Untitled6The many sweet moments between Jet and Evan. Not to mention the hot and steamy moments they had. (oh.la.la.)

Untitled6It’s a book about football and I HEART my book boo’s to either be in a band or play in some sport. So BUT OF COURSE, this book had my full attention.

888Instalove. *Cringe*

888Ya’ll ever have that one instance where you just COULD NOT connect with the characters?? Like they were just so flat… so unemotional… So… BLAH.

888And…. What the heck was the plot? I DESPISE not being able to distinguish what the heck the plot is. Whilst reading this I kept asking myself what the heck it even was. Granted, it finally showed up… in the middle of the book when I had already lost interest….

2Besides the fact that I didn’t care for this book due to all of the stinky instalove, (if you don’t mind that type of thing) I would recommend the book to you.

  1. Insta-attraction, yes ; insta-love ? Not so much. I’ve already read that, books that told me what the characters were feeling, but I didn’t feel it myself – it makes us readers lose all interest in the story… I’m sorry it didn’t live up to your expectations :/

    • OMG. That is exactly what I was feeling! It was a a super let down because like you said, it’s better for us to FEEL versus being TOLD what to feel. You’re absolutely right 🙂

  2. Lekeisha

I think maybe I’ll pass on this one. I’m into NA romance, I just have to be really connected to the characters as well as the plot.

  3. I confess that I’m against inta-love, really difficult for me so it would be complicated. Not sure it’s for me but thanks for the review!

    • Yeah, I don’t think anyone really cares for insta-love because it makes it feel so… cheap and unrelatable. So I’m totally with you Melliane. 🙂

  4. Jeann @ Happy Indulgence

The instalove here doesn’t sound very promising at all, especially with the combination of a flat sounding main character. Hehe I love to eat as well! Thanks for the lovely review 🙂

    • You are so right Jeann, it wasn’t promising AT ALL. Needless to say, I’m on the last book in the series and oddly enjoying it now.. so. yeah. tee hee

    • Hiya Heidi. 🙂 And yes girl, I would have skipped it but I was already sucked in so.. yeah. You know how that guys. i just couldn’t abandon it after that. 🙂

    • PAIN IN THE BEHIND! That’s exactly what it was Lanie. I tried to give it a try but… I probably won’t read another series by this author. It’s a shame but the truth.

    • *Nods head at you* This is exactly why I won’t be reading anything else by this author and I’ve decided to branch out and start reading other genres. 😉
