After the events of last year, Jade and Garret are anxious to get a fresh start in a new town and a new college, far away from the people who tried to tear them apart.
But soon after moving, their relationship problems begin. Jade finds out Garret hasn’t been completely honest with her. And knowing he’s been keeping secrets drives her back to old habits. Garret begins to worry when he sees Jade reverting back to the girl he met last year and yet he continues to hide things from her, thinking it’s for the best.
Jade and Garret thought they’d be safe in a small college town but they start to question their safety when a crime occurs in their neighborhood. And the more they investigate it, the more suspicious it becomes. Was it just a random crime or were they the intended victims?
I would describe Finding Us as: A Page-Turner
Hmmm. Where to start?
So first, all I have to say is WOWT! I’ve followed this series since book number one. In the series, there will be a total of seven books with this being the SEVENTH. So I’ll admit it, I have some re-reading to do but I’ll GLADLY do it because this series is ‘DA BOMB DIGGITY FRESH!
YA HEARD MEH?
Okay, enough of that and on to the review! ♥
The theme of this book for me was that although we have problems in life, those problems can’t continue to rule our lives. There is a time to just LET THINGS GO.
Jade is still suffering with her problems from her childhood and it really gets in between her relationship with Garrett in this installment which drove me crazy. I so wanted her to get over her past and learn to live her life with Garrett.
But… She just wouldn’t.
The book takes place a month later after they get married, they are now finally moving into their new apartment to start their lives together. I couldn’t help but smile when they went into old habits and just immediately started at each other like wild animals. I missed these two characters and was instantly reattached to them just like I was before.
New beginnings, same old problems.
Jade and Garrett are comfortable in their lives on their own as newlyweds but that happiness comes to a quick and shattering halt when their neighbor’s house gets robbed. Then afterwards, mysterious things begin to happen one right after the other.
Will Garrett and Jade figure out who is behind these mysterious crimes? And in the end, will it make them stronger or only tear them apart?
Garrett in this novel:
♥ My next baby daddy
Right when one mystery happens the other comes like,
My only thing is they live in a neighborhood with hardly any neighbors. I don’t know what they were thining because obviously you ant to live in a neighborhood with at least a couple of neighbors just in case something goes wrong so you’ll have some sort of back up.
Am I right?
Whereas the previous stories were told from Jade’s POV, this one is told in alternating POV’S from both Jade and Garret. I loved the fact hat we’re getting more of Garret’s story in this book and can understand WHO he really is.
Half the book is also written in alternate POV’S which I’m normally not huge fan of. BUT I have no complaints here because it was played out so well and I enjoyed hearing about what Garrett thought.
It kind of takes a lot to get me laughing in real life, a book, movie, whatever but several times I found myself literally laughing out loud and even surprising myself.
He smiles as he tried to get my arm through the sleeve of my shirt. “I love you, too. But you’re really hard to dress. Undressing you is a lot easier.” I laugh.
I love this couple! They always have sweet moments together and I can never get enough of them. I remember stumbling across this book a couple of months ago and immediately fell in love with it. Jade and Garret have such a unique relationship.
I’ve read this series once and fell in love with it and am considering re-reading them because I’m that obsessed with them! 🙂
One thing I didn’t like was that there were so many pages without dialogue. Like I counted and there were four pages in a row without a lick of speaking which made the story drag a bit.
Also, I felt that there was a little too much backstory in the beginning which made the beginning seem a bit drab and boring. But I’m in love with Garrett and Jade’s sorry so I kept reading. They have been through so much and it’s good to finally see something go right for them with their marriage.
Garret and Jades’ relationship has progressed so much, I was literally gripping the edges of my kindle like it was going to fly away.
“You need to stop doubting yourself. you’re going to do incredible things in the years ahead. you’re going to make a difference in people’s lives. I know you are. I can feel it.”
We’re reaching SPOILER TERRITORY…
So go away.
Now. This is me asking you nicely if you don’t want to ruin it for yourself…
That one part when Jade is trying to make friends and everyone she tries to talk to are all witchy towards her?
I was like… Hold up
Oh, oh no she didn’t.
This made me feel bad for Jade. And it really made me miss Sean and Harper who live on the opposite side of the U.S.
New friends are made and are favorite old ones are reintroduced.
And what about when Jade unknowingly sent Garrett out on a date with a new friend, Sara, from the coffee shop? Granted she didn’t know but it eas funny nevertheless.
So, when I finally swiped to the last page, my heart was racing and I was like:
WTF? You can not leave that ending like this! There has to be more!
All of you NON-SPOILER PEOPLE, you may return.
And when I did a quick search, I discovered that in fact there is another one that already came out, titled: ALWAYS US.
Let’s see how Finding Us rated on the coffee scale shall we?
This book is full of those romantic scenes we love and I can’t wait for the next installment.
