Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth's fate hinges on one girl. . . . Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She's a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world's future.
I did my very first buddy read with my awesome chica, Blessie @Michevious Reads. She’s totally awesome and she should have her review up. Go and check her out. SHE’S SO ADDICTIVELY FRIENDLY. I NO KID.
You know when you’re starving and your stomach is growling do bad you feel you could consume a giant walrus and eat the little baby for desert? They have a saying for tis and it’s called: “You have eyes that are bigger than your stomach.”
Where am I going with all this? Be patient sweet bumblebees. I shall tell you.
I had a weak moment. This moment was so brief but I am still paying for it. My fingers were bigger than my wallet. The very last dollars I owned to my name, instead of saving it for world peace or something equally as awesome as that, you know what I did? I SPLURGED. ON BOOKS. It is a sickeningly non-guilty feeling that I have because, pfft, *shrugs* I could have spent my last bucks on let’s say, a video game, or some jewelry, or some new clothes, or some Fatsumo sushi down the street.
And now, I’m getting food happy….
Cyborgs are treated like skum. I’m sure even the filthy, slimy piece of gum on the bottom of a show that has been dragged through camel manure STILL would be more acceptable in their society than a cyborg. The society is all like: HOW DARE YOU EXIST. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?
Like Cinderella, there’s this evil stepmother who won’t allow Cinder (The awesome-sauce cyborg/stepdaughter to go to this dance) Like what?? HOW YOU TELL ME I CAN’T GO TO BALL? HOW ABOUT YOU NO GO TO BALL?
So apart from Cinder having to deal with her evil sisters and stepmom, she has to battle with her feelings for the prince, who/what she is (THERE BE TWISTS HERE), and trying to deal with the evil-liscious queen, she has a lot to deal with, yo.
I would like to take a small moment to say: OMG THAT ENDING THOUGH. THAT. FLIPPING. ENDING. THOUGH.
†Cinder– She’s a freaking mechanic. A MECHANIC. Like seriously, how cool is that?? That deff breaks the whole stereotype of your average female like: ‘oh-I-don’t-want-to-get-my-hands- dirty. Or: ‘Oops. I-seem-to-have-broken-my-pinky-nail.’ NO. This girl is hard core and she knows it. DO YO THANG GIRL. SHOW EM WHAT YOU’RE WORKING WITH. *Snaps fingers*
†Iko: Oh dear Iko, I ADORE you. You’re so sweet and you remind of a cute and small minion even though I know you’re so much more than that. She was Cinder’s faithful friend. Someone give her a nice slab of le vanilla cake. –》or I would not be opposed of you slid it over to me. *holds up hands and shrugs* either way, all is good in the hood.
†Prince Kai’s: I really wish we could have gotten more of him so I could have done the swooning on him more, not that I wasn’t gfited with some glorious moments in which, in fact, did do the swooning. He’s a brave prince. Has a lot to go through. Nuff said.
†Lunar Queen: YOU’RE A BAD PERSON. YOU’RE REALLY MEAN! AND… AND… You kind of terrify me…
DAT MYSTERY THOUGH! Apart from loving in ALL CHARACTERS, I wracked my brain trying to figure out what the heck was going in with the ‘antidote’ and who the HECK messed with the cyborg from the kingdom.
