Procrastination is The Worst and I’m Behind on Reading. Again…

I don’t know what has been going on with me lately but you guys… I have not been wanting to do ANYTHING. Like, absolutely NUN.

The only thing that I have been good at doing is watching Netflix anddddddd procrastinated, procrastinated, and procrastinated.

Other things I’ve done that I’m, like, totally ashamed of:

  1. I’ve watched Pretty Little Liars like it wasn’t anyone’s business when I should have been doing homework.
  2. Woke up from my alarm clock, wanting nothing better to do than fling it across the room when it had the  nerve to wake me up. Well, my iPad is my alarm clock so I couldn’t be that extreme but… I wanted to.

I so wanted to.

Since I’ve been procrastinating so much, I thought I would compile together a super short list of things you can do when the procrastination monster comes slapping you in the eyeballs: (Seriously, it is super short…Be warned.)

1. Focus.

Sure, you’re doing chores, homework, reading , or whatever it si and then all of a sudden you’re hifi with the need to watch that lat episode of Supernatural or The walking Dead.

You, my friend have been hit with procrastination.

2. GO FOR A RUN.

Whatever kind of excerics that you do will be good for you. Just getting those muscles and adrenaline working may be what it takes to get you to stop procrastinating and to get to the work you to need to do. But if you instead decide that oh, that baby cloud just may be a rain cloud…

running

3. DRINK SOME WATER.

I don’t know how the science of how water is super-awesometastical in waking you up and all that, but I’ve heard that by simply drinking a glass of cold/room temperature water somehow help gives you that good ‘ol energy? And since you’re totally procrastinating then that means you need a dose of something to slap yo self awake so you can get to the important stuff. Right?

Right.

shrugging

Water is full of vitamins and minerals and all that good stuff so I know it has to be key help you to have more focus and to just stop procrastinating… At least I think so. But, if you decide that hey, I don’t need that water. Water is for babies. I don’t like it and you just like let me go drink that bottle of Root Beer.

Annndddd, wait for it…

You, my friend are just being unhealthy. And you’re still procrastinating.

But on the realies though, sometimes, the only thing you can do is to just force yourself to stop being lazy-balls and just do it. No matter how hard it is to do, no matter how much you’d rather watch Netflix and partake of, like, cupcakes or something, JUST DO IT. You’ll be surprised at how fast you’ll get it done. Just sit your butt down and get it done.

Now it's your turn 2

What are some of the things that you’ve been putting off lately?

  1. I was just thinking about this very thing while I was in the shower. How to make better use of my time and accomplish the things I want to do. Easier said than done. Sigh.

    • I HATE procrastination too though! But sometimes, it just sneaks up on you without you realizing it and you’re just like… dang it, I COULD do this BUT, YO, Netflix is like RIGHT THERE.

  2. I’ve been so busy and then so tired, that I haven’t been around much lately either so I completely hear you! Take all the time you need, we all need breaks from life once in awhile. 😉

    • I know how out of it you’ve been lately! I keep reading about it in your posts 🙁 I hope we both get out of this funk soon so we can get back to lifeeee! 😮

You must be my conscience talking. I need to scrub my floors. Need to. And I need to do re-writes on two books.

Hope you work through your procrastination and I hope I do, too. 🙂

    • OMG, so I totally forgot you were writing during Nano so I completely hate myself because we could have buddy wrote or something! How did it all come out? You finished right? I’m pretty sure I read that on your post??

  4. I feel ya, my friend! Not so much with the procrastination but with not wanting to do any of it. (Whatever “it” is.) Sadly that’s not an option so I keep slogging through it all but I am so not feeling it! Maybe we’re both having one of those “Calgon, take me away!” months. A stay-cation sounds good about now! 🙂

    • Hhahaa! Calgon, take me away! Gosh, it would so be awesome to just escape reality for a little while. I think I need a mini-vacation from everything. :/ But YESSS, I think that’s largely what it is as well! Is that, I DON’T WANT to do the “thing” and so I just end up putting to off, and off, and off. So need to snap out of that! 😮

    • How is that journal working for you? I kind of want one, but isn’t it just like a regular planner? Because I have one of those and usuall use my phone to write down some to-do-lists! 🙂

  5. For me a short break and then back to work or whatever you’re working on can really help. Or just find more work to do, I procrastinate most when I have too little work to do, when I have too much work i can focus better. And a glass of water can never hurt, i mostly drink tea, but I also drink water a few times during the day.

    • Yes! I totally agree with you! When you have too much to do and you’re just basically struggling to stay afloat, it can get really tricky! So I definitely know what you’re talking about there! Water does help!

  6. I’m really bad about procrastinating when it comes to writing reviews. I tend to wait until I have four or five (or sometimes even more) before I force myself to sit down and write them. Since most of mine are audiobooks, and I can go through an audiobook in a day (depending on what I’m doing at the time), they can pile up pretty quickly. Great ideas to get motivated.

    • ME TOO. And it must be a lot harder for you since you read mostly audiobooks because if you’re reading one a day, that means you have to write one a day and most of the time that just doesn’t happen. (

  7. I love how you just told everyone off for not drinking water, haha. But you’re right, sometimes you just gotta stop procrastinating and do whatever it is you gotta do. Sometimes there are no magical solutions. But once you get it done you have so much less stress, so that’s what motivates me!

    • Teehee! *pushes water in your face* *and then gives you a Pomegranate* 🙂 Is that better? 😉 Sometimes it is better to just do that “thing” that you’ve been putting off for so long! <3

  8. I clean. When I’m restless, I clean or try to read. I’ve not done much blogging this season, and that’s due to personal matters, but whenever I just don’t feel like reading a book I clean or take a drive and see where I end up. Usually at the movie theater, Target or Wal-Mart. LOL! In the book section, of course. I try to stay away from BooksAMillion because they are super pricey, but sometimes they have books I’m interested in on the clearance shelf.

    • I know girl! You take all the time you need to get yourself back on track! Sometimes the best thing to do is to just let things go and pray! <3 Driving does help, so does music. Stores? hehe! I’ve never tried that, but I guess that’s how shop-a-holicis are born? teehee! I hope things better for you soon and if you ever need someone to talk to, you already know I’m here and just an inbox away! <3

  9. RO

As usual, you’re reading my mind, but you make it sound so much better. (lol) So many things that need to be done, but if they’re not fun, I put it off until the absolute last minute, which has often been disastrous. Hang in there and many hugs…RO

    • I know what you mean, Ro. Sometimes it’s a okay to let things go for a while, but then when it gets to be like: OMG. I SHOULD NOT HAVE PUT THIS OFF FOR THAT LONG, then, we have a problem. ha!

I don’t procrastinate often because I have this mindset that when you have something challenging, do it first and then you can reward yourself. And that works for me quite well. But there IS this huge maths assignment that I have to do, due on Tuesday and I have to admit I have been putting it off. I’m starting working at 12 today though, so I’m hoping it will be one of the first things I tackle in that homework session…

    • Teehee! I like how you call it ‘maths.’ That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of it used that way! :)And you are SO right! I have that same mindset but sometimes, I IS LAZY. SO. LAZY. 😮

    • That’s exactly how I was girl! I wonder if it has to do with the time of the year when everyone is all like, ‘new year, new me’ ha! I hope we get out of it soon though because it is so not fun!
